Home remedies for dealing with dandruff

Dandruff is just the dead skin cells on the scalp that sheds from time to time. It is a common scalp disorder mostly to teenagers. It is found to be the one of the major problems causing low self-esteem. Many of the commercial remedies used have some side effects that are dangerous to the skin in the scalp. Dandruff is caused by various reasons that include hormones, oily and irritating skin, stress, changing hair care products, improper care of the head, lack of vitamins, and using too much hair spray or hair gel among others.

The symptoms include the scaly scalp, dry white flakes on the shoulder, and itching on the scalp. In helping to manage the condition, the following natural home remedies can be used. They are cheap and easy to rich in addition to having no side effects as compared to the commercial remedies.


Yogurt
Yogurt is not only effective option to conditioning the scalp and the hair but also a wonderful natural remedy to eliminate severe dandruff. Apply plain yogurt to the scalp and rinse off with water after 20 minutes. Clean the scalp with a little shampoo and see the amazing result it brings.

Oil Therapy
Mild oil or baby oil can be used in small quantity since too much of the oil can burn the scalp and fingers. Take some oil in your fingers and massage gently it into the scalp using your palm. The gentle massage prevents the hair from falling. Soak a larger towel in warm water enough to cover the hair and the scalp. Cover the hair with the towel as you squeeze the excess water for around 20 minutes. Remove the towel and leave the hair overnight then shampoo in the morning.

Coconut oil massage
Massage your scalp using some heated coconut oil and leave it overnight before you rinse with shampoo the next morning. Washing the hair once may not be effective in removing the oil. The hair should be washed 2 to 3 times before you realize the oil moisturizes the hair in the scalp.

Listerine
Besides being a mouth wash product, Listerine as proven to be effective in getting rid of hair dandruff. It contains menthol and methyl salicylate that provides relief to itching of the scalp hair.

Aspirin
Make a fine powder of out of two aspirin tablets by crushing them and mix in the regular shampoo then wash with warm water after few minutes.
