Effective home remedies for curing Hickeys

A hickey is a bruise or a mark that can occur as a result of a bug bite on the skin or when the body is sucked by a biting insect of an animal. It is considered to be a passionate and funny act as one receives pleasure during the painful bite, hence given the name love bite. Most of the affected individuals try concealing the pain by wearing a turtleneck or a neck scarf. Others also pull long strands across the neck. However, all the tricks only cover the mark for a short time and do not bring any healing effect.

Hickeys occur when the capillaries get damaged or rupture resulting in bleeding causing the blood to clot. Initially, hockey is red in color, but it turns brown or red due to little oxygen supply to the affected area.  The following natural home remedies can be used to eliminate the hickeys fast enough.


Warm compressing 
Warm compressing is an effective and fast way to relieve or treat hockey. It is advisable to be used in cases when the hickey from the bite has lasted for more than three to 4 days. The warm compressing is used to lower the level of pain and swelling. Take a clean towel and completely soak in hot water. Gently press the towel on the affected area ensuring you give enough heat to the hickey. Repeat the process several times until you feel the relieving effect.

Aloe Vera
It is proven to work wonders for almost all skin disorders and ailments, and Hickey treatment is not an option. Squeeze an Aloe Vera pulp and apply it on the affected area. Apart from the healing, it will provide a soothing sensation that will give fast relief to the hickeys infection on the skin. It is advantageous that it is known to have antibiotic properties and will hence heal any ailment on the skin.


Cold Compressing 
Cold compressing is one of the simple and effective treatments against hickeys. Refrigerate an in a spoon in a freezer for 30 minutes. Take it out and immediately press it in the affected area. Pressing the cold spoon in the affected area will help in regulating the blood flow in the affected area hence removing clotting and swelling. However, when the bite was on the lips, ice cubes can be effective when used instead of the spoon. Cold pressing reduces the pain that might be caused due to the bite.
